In February 2026, I completed a week-long placement at Sky News, gaining experience across broadcast, digital and political teams.
During the placement, I worked across multiple departments including TV, audio, mobile, video and OSINT (open-source intelligence), as well as spending time at Millbank with the political team. I attended Prime Minister’s Questions in Parliament alongside Sky News political correspondent Lucy McDaid, and shadowed the wider team of political reporters in Westminster.
I pitched ideas to the digital team, contributed copy to a live blog covering the war in Ukraine, and supported the production of a digital video on the Assisted Dying Bill, including sourcing relevant archive footage.
I also shadowed the podcast team during the production of one of the final episodes of the Sky News Daily podcast, and gained experience practising bulletin reading.
